New E-Bike Ordinance Now in Effect In order to keep our community safe, a new e-bike ordinance took effect in the City this year. The intent of the ordinance is to focus enforcement on reckless or destructive behaviors, as well as actions that pose a danger to the shared use of streets and trails by pedestrians and vehicles. The ordinance covers all “electronic mobility devices” (e-bikes, mobility devices, motorized scooters, skateboards, and pocket bikes) and aligns with the City’s existing regulations for bicycles, skateboards, and roller skates. The ordinance calls for violators to be fined, but also gives the Brea Police Department the option to refer juvenile offenders and their parents to e-bike education programs in lieu of paying a fine.

Find us at Cityofbrea.gov The City of Brea’s official website address is now, cityofbrea.gov! The change from cityofbrea.net to cityofbrea.gov was made to enhance cybersecurity and increase public trust. Changing to a “.gov” domain establishes credibility and trust by clearly indicating that the website and/or email address belongs to an official government entity. It makes it easier for users to identify legitimate sources and reduces the risk of citizens being misled by imposter sites. Only verified government organizations can register a “.gov” domain, which is managed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), to ensure authenticity. City email addresses are also using the “.gov” domain, as well as breapolice.gov and breafire.gov. To ensure a smooth transition, cityofbrea.net and @cityofbrea.net email address will still work in conjunction with the “.gov” domain for the next few months.
