National Arts & Humanities Month

The month of October is National Arts & Humanities Month. National Arts & Humanities Month was established in 1993 and is celebrated every October in the United States. It was initiated to encourage Americans to explore new facets of the arts and humanities in their lives, and to begin a lifelong habit of participation in the arts and humanities. The Brea community takes pride in its image as a City of Art. Brea is home to the Curtis Theatre, a Performing Arts Theatre, has one of the largest collections of public art of any city in the entire country with the Arts in Public Places Outdoor Sculpture Collection, and the Brea Art Gallery which hosts various art exhibitions throughout the year. By including art throughout the City, Brea has earned its reputation as one of North Orange County’s premiere cultural venues.

National Community Planning Month

The Brea Planning Division is a vital part of the Community Development Department. Planning supports the life and business of the City by assuring that structures and amenities related to the built environment are well-functioning and of good quality. Planners work to improve the well-being of all people living in our communities by taking a comprehensive perspective. This approach leads to safer, resilient, more equitable, and more prosperous communities. We celebrate the role that planning plays in creating great communities each October with National Community Planning Month. Find out more about our planning team here.
