Fireworks Prohibited in Brea

While enjoying the holiday weekend with friends and family, please help keep our community safe by adhering to Brea’s ban on fireworks. The sale, use, or discharge of all fireworks are prohibited in Brea, even the “safe and sane” variety sold in other cities. Fireworks are dangerous and can be harmful to you, your property, your pets, and pose a serious fire hazard. Sparks from fireworks can travel to nearby homes or brush and ignite a fire. If you are able to identify a location of someone using fireworks, please report it by calling the Brea Police Department’s non-emergency line, 714-990-7911. Violators face a fine of up to $1,000. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

Brea Skatepark Closed

Review the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

The City of Brea is preparing the City's first Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). This plan will help create a safer community for residents, businesses, and visitors. The LHMP allows public safety officials and city staff, elected officials, and members of the public to understand the threats from natural and human-caused hazards in our community. The plan will also recommend specific actions to proactively decrease these threats before disasters occur. The draft of the completed local hazard mitigation plan has been released. Review the draft and provide feedback before the deadline of July 8.

"Sharrows" on Brea Blvd.

The City of Brea is proud to announce the completion of the Brea Blvd. Street Improvement project from Imperial Hwy. to the southern city limits. The project included new ADA access ramps, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, asphalt repairs, slurry sealing, and traffic striping. With the new striping we have introduced new “sharrow” bike markings. “Sharrows,” or shared lane markings, have been strategically placed within the right lane to serve as a visual cue to bicyclists where they should ride and to motorists to watch for the presence of bicyclists. These new “sharrows” do not restrict vehicular access within the designated lane, instead they emphasize the importance of accommodating both cyclists and motorists along the roadway.  While cyclists are encouraged to use the designated lane, motorists may also occupy the same lane, thus ensuring the efficient flow of traffic. By providing clear guidance to bicyclists and awareness to motorists, the City aims to foster a safer environment for all road users and encourage greater use of active transportation alternatives.
