Help the City Prepare for Hazardous Events

The City is underway preparing its first Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). That’s a five-year strategic plan to be better prepared for hazardous events by outlining specific policy and action recommendations to improve how Brea responds. The plan will also recommend specific actions to proactively decrease threats before disasters occur. Having a LHMP benefits the community by opening grant eligibility from FEMA and the State. Receiving input from the community is part of the planning process and ensures that your concerns and experiences are included.

Learn more about the plan and provide your input at the upcoming community meeting! Join us on Thursday, November 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center in Community Room A. An online survey is also available to take.

Full Street Closure at Lambert Road and 57 Freeway

Caltrans will be conducting a full closure of Lambert Road, both east and west bound directions, starting at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17 and reopening on Sunday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m. As the 57/Lambert Interchange Project is progressing, one of the remaining items is to pave Lambert Road. Caltrans informed the City of Brea that the paving operations on Lambert Road, under the freeway, needs to be done during the day due to weather temperature. The contractor’s plan is to grind Lambert Road Friday night and then pave the street all day Saturday, pending weather conditions.

The boundaries of the street closure on Lambert Road have not been confirmed by Caltrans, but are expected to be in the project’s construction area. Please plan alternate routes to avoid the intersection of Lambert Road/57 Freeway. Traffic detours will be routed on State College Boulevard and Associated Road to Imperial Highway. For the latest information, continue to check Caltrans and the City’s social media channels or the City’s website.
