Celebrating Our Nation's Independence

There are many ways to celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. If you’re staying local, join the community at City Hall Park on Tuesday, July 4 for Brea’s 43rd Annual Country Fair. Activities are planned from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. They include a pancake breakfast, car show, live entertainment, free recreational swim at the Plunge, a kiddie parade, a dog contest, food, games, exhibits, and a Marketplace area featuring handmade gifts. Admission is free, so stop by and join the fun.

Fireworks Prohibited in Brea

While enjoying the holiday weekend with friends and family, please help keep our community safe by adhering to Brea’s ban on fireworks. The sale, use, or discharge of all fireworks are prohibited in Brea, even the “safe and sane” variety sold in other cities. Fireworks are dangerous and can be harmful to you, your property, your pets and pose a serious fire hazard. Sparks from fireworks can travel to nearby homes or brush and ignite a fire. If you are able to identify a location of someone using fireworks, please report it by calling the Brea Police Department’s non-emergency line, (714) 990-7911. Violators face a fine of up to $1,000. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

Weed Abatement

One of the ways the Brea Fire Department helps the community to stay fire safe is to ensure that overgrown brush does not accumulate throughout the city, and that "defensible space" is established and maintained between urban development and the "wildland" interface. The purpose of the Weed Abatement program is to reduce potential fire hazards due to the accumulation for weeds, dry vegetation and/or rubbish. There is generally one cycle per year when weeds are cleared from property lines, road frontages, and buildings. Notices are sent out to property owners notifying them that the vegetation needs to be cleared.
